Tappers @ Jaya One PJ

After reading Jason's (Ipoh Mali Talak Sombong) blog about Tappers and after a few failed attempts to have breakfast here, I finally succeeded one Saturday morning :) I have read several magazines which introduce places to eat in Jaya One PJ and I had to say, those pictures were really nice.

So when I stepped my feet into the cafe, "Cheh! Like that only ah?" rather than disappointment got the better of me. The whole setting was rather simple and divided into 2 sections - smoking & non-smoking area. It is air conditioned inside and therefore I sat inside (my 3 months old baby could not take the heat)

Semi-open kitchen concept but ventilation was good so it was not smoky inside.

Look!!! Free Wi-fi & even 10% off for students... hmmm! I still keep my student card (*evil grin). Since Jaya One is very close to UTAR and UM... a lot of students live in this area. Not forget to mention office workers who flock this place during lunch time.

I had the English Breakfast set which comprised of 2 eggs, 2 sausages (actually one but I substituted the beef bacon with extra sausage instead), 2 pcs of pancakes (with honey). Complimentary iced cham was ordered and it only cost me RM7.90 for the whole set (wait! was it RM8.90??)...

Jenn had the American Breakfast set which was quite similar to mine except for the baked beans in the place of pancakes. Hot cham for her...

Leo's verdict - probably one of the cheapest places to eat in Jaya One. No govt tax nor service charge (15% saved!!). But don't expect top-notch breakfast ingredients OK??? Overall the food and drink were good and value for money too... Tappers Cafe is actually similar to those kopitiams that were sprouting all over Klang Valley. Beside breakfast set, they also serve local dishes and a few Hainanese food (especially the chicken chop).

OK peeps... I'm off to KL soon... have a nice weekend everyone!

Wendy's @ Jaya 1, Section 13 PJ

Jenn & I went to a warehouse sales nearby but we ended up disappointed, as there was nothing interesting stuff at all. So we came to Jaya 1 for dinner, as it was the nearest place that came into my mind. We walked around looking at the menus outside all the restaurants and cafes... and we ended up at Wendy's.

Wendy's is a fast-food chain that made its foray into Malaysian market not long ago. As I wrote this blog, there are 7 outlets operating in Klang Valley at the moment. It seem that the business is good for Wendy's... they have been steadily opening up outlets across KL and Selangor area. All the layout and operations were similar to McDonald.

We quickly placed our orders, as we were starving :) I went for their Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken @ RM13.95 - it came with bread cruttons and cheese bits. The mayonnaise sauce was served separately. The chicken meat was tender and soft.

Jenn went for the Spicy Chicken Sensation medium combo @ 11.98 - as the name suggested, the chicken meat was deep fried and quite spicy. It came with medium soft drink and of course... french fries!

We also ordered Broccoli & Cheese Baked Potato @ RM6.99 - what else can I say beside cheese-y??? It was so so only... and not up to our expectation.

Leo's verdict - something fresh to look forward in a fast-food joint... apart from the dominant McDonald, KFC, A&W, etc...

Simply Fusion @ Jaya 1, Section 13 PJ

We didn't know what to eat for dinner... so I asked Jenn to decide on one particular place/area and I would figure out the rest. Jaya 1 came into her mind and so off we went... We took our time to explore around, as this place is relatively new and we have only been here for about 3 times. This place has a lot of new restaurants popping up recently.

My eyes locked at the dessert section :)

This place looked quite interesting with its decor. Usage of mirrors and chandeliers + dark interior created a comtemporary feeling. There were quite a number of patrons inside, so we thought that the food would be nice.
The menu

The waiter was fast to attend to us once we were seated. Looking at their menu, I ordered their Value Set (total of 8) which was Seafood Garlic Fried Rice. And it came with complimentary coffee/tea/iced lemon tea & a choice of cake from their bar. The price?? RM19.20++! Iced lemon tea was rather plain. However, the fried rice was good... prawns were fresh and the accompanied grilled chicken on skewers with teriyaki sauce really made the difference. Thumbs up!
Iced lemon tea.. not so good. Oh well! At least it's free

Jenn opted for Chicken Shogayaki - Chargrilled chicken, saffron butter rice @ seasonal vegetables @ RM11.80++. This dish was similar to mine, as the chicken was marinated with teriyaki sauce as well. Generous portion of chicken while the butter rice was sweet too.

I had mentioned earlier that I got to choose a slice of cake of my choice... Brownie Cheese Cake. It looked very nice on the shelf and it certainly tasted very nice too. A perfect dessert to conclude my dinner here.

Leo's verdict - A relatively new restaurant which offer diners with a variety of food to choose from the menu. The lunch and dinner sets that they offer were meant to attract new crowds and working executives. I'd say that they really gave me a good first impression... first the overall outlook and then the food. I'll be back to try their other food on my next trip.
