DARN!!! And I thought that my town is safe!

I always read news on the houses that were robbed or broken into, where the house owners lost their valuables. I also used to think that those people were really unfortunate to face those predicaments, but I never really gave it a serious thought that my house was also at risk. That is, until it was broken into for the first time last night (my very first experience with theft).

My house is located in a neighbourhood where a lot of cops are living there. That is why the thought of my house being broken into never crossed my mind (seriously). There is also one kindergarten which is located directly opposite my house which practically make the area a rather busy one. And yet I miscalculated... I totally forgotten about the concept of work & holiday. Work - the cops still have to work and not stay at home. Holiday - it's school holiday and most people have taken leave to bring their children on vacation. That makes my house vulnerable to those buggers.

We were returning home from my in-law's place after dinner around 8pm and the first thing that Jenn asked when I parked my car was "Hey! Why didn't you lock the door?" My very first instinct was "S**T"!!! I dashed into the house just to find the place was ransacked... total mess! First thing to do was to check on the loss... jewellery and some cash were missing! Important documents were fortunately left untouched.

A careful look at the aluminium grill revealed that it was prised open by force

The cupboard where the valuables were stored was ransacked!

All the cabinets were not spared too...

The door was dusted by the police to check on the fingerprint!

It took me whole night just to make report at the police station. It pays to have connection with the police force, as they were more efficient and faster to get evidence at the house. After collecting fingerprints, taking photos and recording our statements - I have to tell you, ala CSI-style :) of course, do not expect the likes of David Caruso and Gary Sinise lah! They left.. and then we cleaned up the house.

Later at night...

I couldn't sleep... my eyes were wide opened, imagining on what would it be like if we were at home at that time. With a steel rod by my side (precautionary move), I was worried that they might come back again. Then I realised that rushed into the house without checking if the thieves were still inside, jeopardising my family's safety. I was so concerned with the loss at that time...

Then I looked at my wife and Sher Ryn who were sleeping soundly by my side. I gently stroked my daughter's hair and thanked God that she's alright! Things that are lost can be earned back, but there is only one life. We were so pre-occupied with other things in our lives.

P.S: Next time I'm going to do is to install alarm system. I don't feel save and secure anymore after this incident.

Family safety is always the first! How often we forget that! :)

Comment from The Wok's owner

Dear fellow bloggers/readers,

Below is rather interesting comments from the owner/boss/dictator of The Wok restaurant which has been posted by the earlier today.

Here's my story... after my visit to The Wok a few months ago, I have written this post to share with my friends and other bloggers in this community. Words speak of themselves... I am not the only one who posted negative remarks about this restaurant, it seems that someone also encountered similar experience as I did. Just try to read what the owner had written as comments in my post (all comments are highlighted in red). One comment has been deleted by himself... which I am pretty sure full of profanities and vulgar words. The last comment sounded more like he's so pissed off.

Most of you can already read that from Hot Wok Penang's comment on 7th July that asked me to call Mervyn. Not only I couldn't reach his phone, but I had left sms on his cell asking him to return call. I think that if Mervyn is really sincere, he would have returned call immediately. But the truth is I am not expecting any form of compensation from him. And you know what he said to me??? Simply read the last comment!!! I am not making this up... just click on the link below:
The Hot Wok

Mervyn, if you read this... I didn't ask for a RED SNAPPER you arrogant fool!!! If your English is ever that good, I asked for RM13 fish dish... in which you didn't tell me in advance that you were out of the particular fish. The next thing I know is that you put a ready red snapper dish in front of me and promply inform me of the inavailability of my order. FYI... there's a difference between courtesy (informing me in advance) and robbing... which I think you are the latter!!! I have never been so pissed off for a long time... thanks for igniting my fire again. Hope that you have thought carefully before posting all your stupid comments in my blog. Now everyone will know how unprofessional you are in conducting business... I am thinking of PROMOTING your restaurant in Facebook and other forms of media so that they know how the boss of The Wok in The Strand Damansara is...

P.S: By the way, I don't need your donation... no matter I am rich or poor is none of your business. FYI... right now everything made sense. Maybe I am right about you after all... but then, the point when you brought out the cop's kid was just pathetic!!! People are grieving but you seemed to be happy about it!! What kind of human are you again?

met with really really bad service, and waited ages for the waitress to come take the order.

the owner of the restaurant is one heck of arrogant fellow. wouldn't even want to help out the staff, as they were lack of it
he just sat there, and barked orders

and they couldn't just notify the customers earlier when one of the dish is not available anymore, until i needed to wave my hands to death, asking for the waitresses to come over and asked about where is the dish that i ordered, as i have already finished my rice!

and talking about rice, they serived the dishes before the rice, and left them cold on the table, before i had to shout my lungs off to ask for rice.

the worst thing is, instead of impressing my in laws with a new place i found on the net about how good is the food, turned out to be a farce.

i had but no choice to tell the waitress when the bill came, that she should quit her job, because her boss is an arrogant, selfish man, and wouldn't care less about his staff, let alone offering decent service
to his customers
i told her not to waste her life there..

this is the first time and the last time tat arrogant fellow of a boss, who don't know nothing about running a business where he fails to realize that customers are gold, is ever gonna get one cent of my hard-earned money ever again

one of the worst dining experience of my life.
i was fuming when i left the place
